Burnie is a town located on the North-West Coast of Tasmania is an RV-friendly town, offering free overnight stays for fully self-contained vehicles just a few minutes from the Burnie City Centre at Cooee on the site of an old abattoir. Burnie is a large, modern city with full facilities and serves as a great base to explore both the North-West Coast and also inland regions. As at the 2011 Australian Census Burnie had an urban population of almost 20,000 people making it the fourth largest city in Tasmania. Burnie, together with the nearby coastal town of Wynyard, together have an estimated urban population of almost 30,000 permanent residents. This free overnight stop is not the most attractive of a number of RV-friendly towns in Tasmania, but is large and does have a dump point.
