Sorell is an RV Friendly Town located app. 45-minutes drive South East of Hobart, past the Hobart Airport. You can stay in your fully self-contained vehicle at Pembroke Park, Montagu St, for a cost of $10 per van per night or 5 nights for $30. You must purchase a permit from the Sorell Council Chambers between 8:00am and 4.45pm Mon – Fri. If arriving after hours, there is a security box for deposit of fees near the dump point. Permits must be clearly displayed on the dash board of vehicles, inspectors regularly check the area to ensure fees have been paid. Sorell is 28 kilometres east of Hobart, 13 kilometres from Cambridge and 30 kilometres from Dunalley. Sorell is a great base for the Southern Beaches Touring Route and the wealth of other nearby country region touring options available to explore. Sorell is a fairly large town with a Coles and Woolworths Supermarkets and a wide range of speciality stores, restaurants and takeaway food options. Sorell was named in 1821 after Lieutenant Governor William Sorell. In 1874 Sorell became known as the gateway to the east coast of the Tasman Peninsula and has remained a popular service centre for local farms, agricultural pursuits and light industry. Sorell is a fast growing area of Southern Tasmania.
