Free camping for up to 2-nights in fully self contained recreational vehicles at Picnic Point Camping Ground, Ulverstone Tasmania. The small North West Tasmanian coastal town of Ulverstone is located at the mouth of the Leven River and is supported largely through tourism and agriculture. Ulverstone was settled in 1840 by James Fenton, however due to a lack of accessibility to the town, development was limited until 1890 when a railway station was constructed. Ulverstone is relatively close to Devonport, home of the Spirit of Tasmania and also a popular base before driving to Cradle Mountain. Ulverstone is strongly supportive of RV based tourism. In Ulverstone you will find some excellent restaurants and eateries, pubs, a Woolworths Supermarket, banks and a wide range of specialty shops and services including medical facilities.
